Tribute from Sheryle Bagwell - An expat Aussie in France

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear the news today of Col's death. I worked with Col for many years at the Australian Financial Review. But it's only more recently, as an occasional contributor to The Bulletin from France where I now live, that I feel I really got to know the true Col. He was quite simply one of those rare jewels in journalism: a fine editor and wordsmith with no trace of ego or bombast, and a discerning, intelligent listener who was keenly interested in the world around him. For an Aussie expat far from home, Col's chatty, information-packed emails brightened up my day. I will truly miss him.
